Tax Fairness Act of 2006

Act 117, known as the Tax Fairness Act of 2006, was enacted on July 4th, and amends the Puerto Rico Internal Revenue Code of 1994 to impose a Sales and Use Tax [known in Spanish as the "Impuesto sobre Ventas y Uso" (IVU)]. As such, beginning on November 15, PRT will apply a 6% state IVU as well as a municipal IVU of up to 1%, as established by each municipality by ordinance. The purchases made on this web page might be subject to the imposition of the IVU. The charges for your purchases and the IVU will be reflected on your phone bill.

Digital Millennium Author Rights Law

In virtue of Chapter II of the Digital Millennium Author Rights Law (Digital Millennium Copyright Act), all the author right infraction claims by material created contained in the Claro Puerto Rico network system, must be sent by written communication to Claro Puerto Rico: Claro, Marketing Department, P.O. Box 70367, San Juan, PR 00936-8367.
All claims must include the following information:
  1. A physical or electronic company/signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the proprietor for an exclusive right that is allegedly being infringed;
  2. Identification of the work or works protected by author rights which have allegedly been infringed upon, or if multiple works protected by author rights in a single Internet site are covered by a single notification, a representative list of these works in that Web site;
  3. Identification of the material which has allegedly been infringed upon to be object of an infraction activity and that must be eliminated or whose access must be deactivated, and information reasonably sufficient to allow the service provider to locate said material;
  4. Reasonably sufficient information enabling the service provider to contact the Claimant, such as an address, a telephone number and, if it available, an e-mail address where to contact the Claimant.
  5. A declaration stating the Claimant believes in good faith that the use of the material infringed upon is not authorized by the owner of the author rights, his agent or the law, and
  6. A declaration indicating that the information of the notification is correct and, under penalty of perjury that the Claimant is authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly being infringed upon.

Applicable Law and Jurisdiction

The mandates stated above are governed by Puerto Rico law, with exception of issues relative to trade names and author rights, governed by U.S. federal law, without consideration of their conflicts of interest. The user of this Web site is voluntarily placed under the jurisdiction and competence of the federal and state courts of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and renounces any defense of lack of jurisdiction or competition. The user agrees that any claim against Claro arising from the use of this Website or these Terms and Conditions, will have be presented in the state or federal courts of Puerto Rico.

How to Report Child Pornography

As outlined in these Terms and Conditions, child pornography is defined as the exhibition of sexually explicit behavior of a child under 18 years of age.
